Subspecies and Distribution
- Aviceda leuphotes wolfei (Deignan, 1948)
– Sichuan (C China). - Aviceda leuphotes syama (Hodgson, 1837)
– N India (Uttarakhand) E to SE China (Guangdong, Hainan), probably also S Myanmar and W Thailand; this race postulated to be breeding in Laos and presumably responsible also for recent summer (Jun) record in Bhutan; winters S through Thailand and Malay Peninsula to W Java. - Aviceda leuphotes leuphotes (Dumont de Sainte Croix, 1820)
– SW India and Sri Lanka (but breeding reports questionable), possibly S Myanmar and W Thailand; may breed also in parts of Indochina. - Aviceda leuphotes andamanica (Abdulali & Grubh, 1970)
– South Andaman (Andaman Is).
