    Subspecies (2) and Distribution

• Pachycephala hypoxantha hypoxantha (Sharpe, 1887, Mt. Kinabalu, North Borneo)
  – Mountains of northern and central Borneo (from Mount Kinabalu south to Müller Range; also Niut Range); recently found in the Meratus Mountains.
• Pachycephala hypoxantha sarawacensis (Chasen, 1935, Mt. Poi, West Sarawak)
  – Pueh Range, on the border between western Sarawak and West Kalimantan, in western Borneo.
• Identification :
  – Similar to nominate, but the underparts are more uniform yellow with less olive wash in the throat and sides of the breast.
