– Sakhalin, Kuril Is. and Japan; winters to Philippines and Indonesia. - Accipiter gularis sibiricus (Stepanyan, 1959)
– Mongolia to e China and Taiwan; winters to India and Indonesia. - Accipiter gularis iwasakii (Mishima, 1962)
– S Ryukyu Islands (Iriomote and Ishigaki).
