              Male 85–142 g, Female 111–193 g
   
    Subspecies and Distribution
  • Accipiter gularis gularis (Temminck & Schlegel, 1844)
    – Sakhalin, Kuril Is. and Japan; winters to Philippines and Indonesia.
  • Accipiter gularis sibiricus (Stepanyan, 1959)
    – Mongolia to e China and Taiwan; winters to India and Indonesia.
  • Accipiter gularis iwasakii (Mishima, 1962)
    – S Ryukyu Islands (Iriomote and Ishigaki).
