              s China, specimens : total length 24.7 cm (226–257 cm); male 108–136 g, female 108–140 g
             
    Subspecies (3) and Distribution
  • Acridotheres cristatellus cristatellus (Linnaeus, 1758)
    – S and SE China (S from S Shaanxi, E from C Sichuan and W Yunnan). Recorded in N and E Myanmar, where status unknown.
  • Acridotheres cristatellus brevipennis (E. J. O. Hartert, 1910)
    – Laos and Vietnam (except S), and Hainan (S China).
  • Acridotheres cristatellus formosanus (E. J. O. Hartert, 1912)
    – Taiwan.

    Introduced (probably race brevipennis) in Peninsular Malaysia (Penang), Singapore, N    Philippines (Manila region of Luzon), Borneo, Japan, Canada (Vancouver), Argentina
    (Buenos Aires Province) and Portugal (Lisbon and Setúbal).
