    Subspecies and Distribution
- Acridotheres fuscus fuscus (Wagler, 1827)
– N Pakistan E through Himalayan foothills to NE India (Assam), S in lower hills to Rajasthan and N Odisha, and to Bangladesh; also Myanmar (except N & E). - Acridotheres fuscus mahrattensis (Sykes, 1832)
– W India from Rajasthan S to Kerala, E to W Tamil Nadu. - Acridotheres fuscus fumidus (Ripley, 1950)
– E Assam and Nagaland, in NE India. - Acridotheres fuscus torquatus (W. R. Davison, 1892)
– Malay Peninsula (except extreme S). 
    Introduced (nominate race) in Fiji, Futuna, Samoa and Taiwan.
