Scarlet Minivet (Pericrocotus speciosus) is split into two species with Orange Minivet occupying the disjunct range in southern India and Sri Lanka and Scarlet Minivet occupying the rest of the species’ range :

- Orange Minivet (Pericrocotus flammeus)
- Scarlet Minivet (Pericrocotus speciosus)

    Size : 17–22 cm; 19–24.5 g

  – Himalayas from Jammu and Kashmir E to S China (SE Xizang).
• Pericrocotus speciosus fraterculus (Swinhoe, 1870)
  – NE India (hills of Assam S of R Brahmaputra), N Myanmar, S China (Yunnan, Hainan) and N Indochina.
• Pericrocotus speciosus elegans (McClelland, 1840)
  – SW China (NW Yunnan) to NE India, N Myanmar and N Indochina.
• Pericrocotus speciosus semiruber (Whistler & Kinnear, 1933)
  – EC India, S Myanmar and Thailand (except C & S) E to C & S Indochina.
• Pericrocotus speciosus andamanensis (Beavan, 1867)
