– Extreme southern Myanmar (southern Tenasserim), southern Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Bangka, Java, and southern and western Borneo. - Oriolus xanthonotus mentawi (Chasen & Kloss, 1926, Siberut Island)
– Mentawai Islands (Siberut, Sipura, North Pagai, South Pagai), off western Sumatra. - Identification :
– Subspecies mentawi is smaller than nominate, and female has a darker crown with much broader blackish feather centers.
