    Taxonomy update for 2012
The widespread Asian species Little Spiderhunter (Arachnothera longirostra) is split into three species: a widespread one and two Philippine endemics. :
- Orange-tufted Spiderhunter (Arachnothera flammifera)
- Pale Spiderhunter (Arachnothera dilutior)
- Little Spiderhunter (Arachnothera longirostra)

    Size : 13.3–16 cm; Male 10.3–16.1 g, Female 8.8–14 g
    
    Subspecies and Distribution
  • Arachnothera longirostra sordida (La Touche, 1921)
    – extreme S China (S & SE Yunnan, extreme NW Guangxi), NE Thailand and N Indochina.
  • Arachnothera longirostra pallida (Delacour, 1932)
    – SE Thailand and C & S Indochina.
  • Arachnothera longirostra cinireicollis (Vieillot, 1819)
    – Malay Peninsula (S of Isthmus of Kra) S to and Sumatra and satellite islands (except Banyak Is and Nias I).
  • Arachnothera longirostra zarhina (Oberholser, 1912)
    – Banyak Is, off W Sumatra.
  • Arachnothera longirostra niasensis (van Oort, 1910)
    – Nias I, off W Sumatra.
  • Arachnothera longirostra rothschildi (van Oort, 1910)
    – N Natuna Is.
  • Arachnothera longirostra atita (Oberholser, 1932)
    – S Natuna Is.
  • Arachnothera longirostra buettikoferi (van Oort, 1910)
    – Borneo.
  • Arachnothera longirostra prillwitzi (E. J. O. Hartert, 1901)
    – Java (including Madura I) and Bali.
  • Arachnothera longirostra randi (Salomonsen, 1953)
    – Basilan (off W Mindanao).
